What is fast food?

Fast food is a type of food that is typically prepared and served quickly at restaurants or takeout/takeaway establishments. Fast food restaurants are known for their convenience and speed, with customers often ordering and receiving their food within minutes.

Fast food is often high in calories, fat, sugar, and/or salt, and is usually viewed as less healthy than home-cooked meals.

What is a combo?

Fast food often comes in a combo that includes at least two different items together at a cheaper price than what they would be individually. Usually, one of them is something to drink like a milkshake or a fizzy drink / soda.

What is the difference between takeout and takeaway?

Takeout and takeaway are different terms used to refer to the same concept – the practice of ordering food from a restaurant or other establishment to be consumed elsewhere, such as at home or at a picnic.

Takeout is the more commonly used term in 🇺🇸 American English, while takeaway is more commonly used in 🇬🇧 British English. However, both terms are understood and used in both countries.

Nationality + Food

You also have fast food typically associated with certain nationalities.
For example, it is common to say: Let’s order some Chinese food.
Some examples are:

  • Chinese food – which may include dumplings, sweet and sour pork, chow mein.
